Eating Disorder Specific Services

Case Management and Care Coordination Services (In-Home or Remote):

We understand the need for a high quality, multi-disciplinary team for clients struggling with eating disorders.  Given the large number of providers often involved, clients with eating disorders and their families, advisors or employers will often hire OPG to provide the following services:

  • Compilation of medical records from past inpatient and outpatient providers
  • Assistance in forming a comprehensive treatment team in the client’s local area (if one does not exist) that would include a therapist, dietician, psychiatrist and primary care physician who all have eating disorder expertise
  • Coordination with assigned clinicians to create a case management plan with short and long-term goals, and tracking of progress over time
  • Assigning a case manager to provide guidance and support to client through regular in-person or remote meetings, and frequent phone contact
  • Weekly communication with members of the outpatient treatment team
  • Coordinating the scheduling of treatment team meetings
  • Interface with insurance companies
  • Location of vocational pursuits (e.g., employment, educational or volunteer opportunities)

In-Home Nutrition and Meal Support:

The foundation of recovery for an individual with an eating disorder is the meal plan developed with a dietician, and our team intends to support that client in adherence to that plan.  In coordination with a client’s treatment team, we can offer support in the client’s natural environment (e.g., home, school, community).  Options include:

  • Grocery shopping based on client’s meal plan
  • Meal planning, in coordination with the client’s dietician
  • Cooking a nutritionally-balanced meal in the home based on the meal plan
  • Supporting an individual in portioning their food according to meal plan with confidence, but not rigidity
  • Coaching around exposures (e.g., trigger foods, restaurants)
  • Supportive meal supervision
  • Planning for special food-related events
  • Mindfulness-based skills coaching around meal times
