- Mediators act as a neutral party. They are impartial, unbiased, and can frame conversations in a situation where people can’t communicate with one another.
- When communications are breaking down amongst family members, mediators become very helpful and productive.
- Try to resolve the dispute without a neutral party by having productive communication through showing empathy and validating what the other person feels.
- In the high wealth context, there is less desperation about money but more issues on expectations and high emotions.

Meet Stacie Feldman Hausner:
Stacie Feldman Hausner, Esq. has successfully mediated hundreds of cases in the areas of business, family conflicts, personal injury, employment, real estate, construction defect, insurance coverage, and entertainment law at ADR Services, Inc. She has an exceptionally high settlement rate due to her tenacity, calm and friendly demeanor, creative “out of the box” thinking, and keen insight. Ms. Hausner draws on her broad mediation experience, as well as her extensive study and understanding of the fields of negotiation and mediation. After a 15-year career as a litigator on both the plaintiff and defense sides, Ms. Hausner received an LL.M. in Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute at Pepperdine University School of Law. She has spent considerable time mediating for the Central District Court, the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Department of Consumer and Business Affairs, and the Center for Conflict Resolution. She also teaches “Mediation Theory and Practice” as an adjunct faculty member at Pepperdine University School of Law (Straus), has co-taught the “Mediating the Litigated Case” at Straus to judges and attorneys who are training to become mediators, has trained the mediators on the Central District Court panel, and frequently presents Continuing Legal Education training to lawyers and mediators on the topics of negotiation and settlement.
