O’Connor Professional Group Webinar – When You Can’t Be Cloned: Parenting Children with Competing Needs

In this Collegial Conversation with Diana Clark, Debbie Connolly joined Diana to discuss parenting children with competing needs, after parenting a son who battled addiction while managing relationships with her other children. Debbie talks in-depth about her own experience parenting, lessons learned and advice for other parents who may also be parenting a child struggling with addiction.

About the Guest: Debbie is committed to supporting families and individuals with mental health and addiction issues. She feels it is her obligation to share her personal experiences with the hope that she can help others navigate these difficult situations. She has consulted with Ferguson Consulting group on placements for rehabilitation after extensive research for her son’s placement, to assist families to find the right fit.

She worked for THE HYDE school in admissions helping schools in New England understand there was an alternative to traditional boarding schools, which centers on character, helping families and their child understand their potential. This experience changed her life. She is a devoted mother of four who feels it is a privilege to say being a mother comes FIRST. She has made a promise to be an active Board member of a Boston based group called “SAMARITANS” since her son took his life seven years ago. Samaritans help raise awareness in the area or mental health with life saving suicide prevention services.

Her motto in life is, “To understand and be understood is the only thing most people want in life.”
