In this week’s Collegial Conversations, Diana’s guest is Gabrielle Loomis-Annett, an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Gabrielle is EMDR trained and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Today she speaks with Diana about the correlation between trauma and substance use disorders.

BIO

Gabrielle Loomis-Annett is an Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She is also EMDR-trained and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Gabrielle Loomis-Annett has worked in the addiction field for over 12 years in a variety of settings, including residential, outpatient, private practice, and telehealth settings.
Gabrielle’s focus has always been to understand the complex nature of the addiction/trauma connection and to help individuals break free from these constraints. Using cutting-edge, evidence-based tools and a tailored approach to counseling, Gabrielle has been able to help hundreds of individuals break the cycle of addiction and gain greater happiness and peace in their lives.
Gabrielle first became familiar with The Sinclair Method (TSM) in 2015 and became a counselor at a TSM outpatient center in 2016. Since then, she has helped many clients successfully transition from problematic drinking to managed drinking or abstinence utilizing TSM. Her experience has shown her that Medication Assisted Treatment allows for an individualized approach to recovery and helps people reach their goals more successfully.
Gabrielle is a member of the National Association for Addiction Professionals, International Association of Trauma Professionals, EMDR International Association, American Counseling Association, California LPCC Association, and the National Association of Women Business Owners and is licensed in California, Arizona, and North Carolina. She currently resides in San Diego with her husband and two therapy dogs, Teddy and Betty. Gabrielle’s hobbies include yoga, hiking, music, and enjoying the ocean.
